Your Baby - Week Thirty-Two
During week thirty-four of your pregnancy your baby is thirty-two week old.
Fat deposits are under the skin turning your baby from red to pink. Your baby's hair and nails continue to grow longer. The languo is continuing to disappear from your baby's body. When he or she is born there may be none left or just a little on the shoulders and back.
Your baby is continuing to gain weight this week and weighs about five pounds by this stage in your pregnancy. If he or she was measured from crown to rump your baby would be almost thirteen inches long and if you add in those long legs he or she will be about nineteen and one half inches long.
You will be surprised to note that during this week your baby is already beginning to act just like the newborn he or she will be in a few weeks. He or she will begin to develop a schedule of being awake and asleep. He or she will sleep with his or her eyes closed and when he or she is awake his or her eyes will be open.
During this time he or she is busy developing some immunity to the outside world. Although your baby will, for a few weeks use your antibodies to stay well; if you breast-feed you will continue to protect your baby from slight infections.
Remember that your uterus is pushing up against your rib cage, making it hard for you to expand your lungs. You should not be concerned if you feel your breathing is shallow, only be concerned if you cannot breathe. If you feel htat you need to mention this to your healthcare practitioner you should do so.
You've probably felt some Braxton Hicks contractions for the past several weeks but they may intensify now. They are usually painless and non-rhythmical. These are preparing your body for the labor that is just around the corner.
